3-Day Itinerary for Nyerere National Park, Tanzania

Day 1: Arrival and Introduction to Nyerere National Park

  • Morning: Arrival in Dar es Salaam

  • Evening: Orientation and Dinner

    • After settling in, enjoy an orientation session with your guide about the park’s wildlife and conservation efforts. Have dinner at the lodge/camp while enjoying the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 2: Boat Safari and Walking Safari

  • Early Morning: Boat Safari on the Rufiji River

    • Start your day early with a guided boat safari on the Rufiji River. This is an excellent opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species such as kingfishers and fish eagles. The boat safari typically lasts around 2-3 hours.
  • Late Morning: Return to Lodge for Brunch

    • Return to your lodge/camp for brunch after your boat safari. Take some time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
  • Afternoon: Guided Walking Safari

    • After brunch, embark on a guided walking safari led by an experienced ranger. This immersive experience allows you to learn about smaller wildlife, plants, and tracks that you might miss while driving. Walking safaris usually last between 2-4 hours.
  • Evening: Night Game Drive (Optional)

    • Depending on availability and interest, consider a night game drive after dinner. This unique experience allows you to spot nocturnal animals like leopards and bush babies.

Day 3: Full Day Game Drive and Departure

  • Early Morning: Full Day Game Drive

    • Enjoy an early breakfast before heading out for a full-day game drive within Nyerere National Park. The park is home to elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and many other species. Your guide will take you to prime viewing spots throughout the day.
